Radiology is at a crossroads, facing unprecedented challenges that impact both clinical practice and operational stability. This session begins by framing the current state of the industry—workforce shortages, ongoing reimbursement cuts, and the disruptive implications of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. We’ll examine how the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule has fundamentally altered reimbursement norms, alongside other pressing legislative and regulatory issues such as tariffs, scope of practice, appropriate use criteria, and virtual direct supervision.
Building on this foundation, the discussion will highlight advocacy efforts and policy positions from key stakeholders, including AMA, AHA, ACR, and RBMA, and explore the progress toward viable solutions or compromises. Finally, we’ll address the critical role of patient engagement in shaping the future of radiology—leveraging Medicare Beneficiary surveys, patient satisfaction data, and advocacy groups to ensure that patient voices influence policy and practice.
Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the challenges, the current advocacy landscape, and actionable strategies for engaging in the dialogue that will define radiology’s next chapter.
