Steve C. Bennett, JD, is an attorney with Jones Day, a firm that focuses on domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration, including cases involving bankruptcy, construction, corporate, energy, insurance, intellectual property, securities, and other disputes.  He co-teaches a course on advanced civil procedure (e-discovery) at Rutgers Law School, and previously taught courses at Brooklyn Law School and at Hunter College. He is a member of the Large Case Advisory Committee for the American Arbitration Association and a member of the ADR Subcommittee of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Civil Litigation. Mr. Bennett has written more than 150 articles on a variety of topics, including: arbitration, bankruptcy, construction contracts, electronic discovery, ethics, insurance, international dispute resolution, mediation, online contracting, privacy, and civil RICO.

Robert B. Burleigh, CHBME, has over 34 years of healthcare financial management experience.  His career has included eight years of hands-on and executive level hospital patient accounting for a 500 bed community hospital and an international chain of for-profit hospitals, eight years with Shared Medical Systems (SMS) [now Siemens] in both the Hospital and Physicians Services Division related to systems sales and delivery, project management, billing service management and consulting, and fifteen years as founder and President of Brandywine Healthcare ServicesSM. He conducted hundreds of engagements in medical practices, billing companies and hospitals in over forty-six states. Mr. Burleigh is a nationally recognized authority on billing services, professional service coding and fees, regulatory compliance, medical practice management, physician contracting, the management of hospital based medical practices, hospital departments and hospital patient accounting. 

Shannon J. Doyle is president of the Montane Group, Inc, a radiology business consulting services company.   For the previous 30 years he was the chief manager and ultimately CEO in a radiology business practice; the CEO in a radiologist-hospital joint venture, and the managing partner in a Limited Liability Company.  He is a long time RBMA member holding many offices including the Western Section and National Presidencies.

Barbara J. Grant, CPA, MST, is a Principal with Gates, Moore & Company, a healthcare consulting firm in Atlanta, Georgia.  Prior to joining Gates, Moore & Company in 1999, she was the partner in charge of the healthcare consulting group at a regional CPA firm in Washington, D.C.  She brings with her over 25 years of experience representing physicians in such areas as financial operations, billing systems and procedures, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, compensation arrangements, buy-sell agreements, tax planning, and hospital contracting.  She has also valued practices for sales, mergers and buy-outs, recruited and trained medical group business managers and provided litigation support in various medical settings. 

Thomas W. Greeson, JD, is a partner in the healthcare practice group of Reed Smith LLP.  His practice focuses on the healthcare industry representing radiologists and diagnostic imaging providers involving health and hospital law, managed care contracting, antitrust, Medicare reimbursement, fraud and abuse, not-for-profit law, legislative and regulatory, and licensure and disciplinary matters.  Previously, he served as general counsel for the American College of Radiology.  Mr. Greeson is a regular columnist for Diagnostic Imaging Magazine, serves as Secretary of the Virginia Bar Association Section Council, past-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center, was awarded the “2003 President’s Award” from the Radiology Business Management Association, and is listed as one of ten outstanding physician practice lawyers in the United States in 2004 by Nightingale’s Healthcare News.

Jeff Howard has been employed by Ray Howard & Associates a Medical Management consulting firm that specializes in compliance for physicians and imaging centers since 1985.  He has extensive experience with the establishment of and auditing compliance programs. Mr. Howard represents providers in audits both by government and non-government payors. 

David F. Jakielo, CHBME, has been speaking, consulting and teaching business methods throughout North America, Europe and Asia for over 30 years. He has extensive experience in sales, marketing, customer service, business start-ups and turnarounds.
He is co-author of four books, including Conversations on Success, and is also a regular columnist for various trade journals. Mr. Jakielo served as President of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association, President of the National Speakers Association – Pittsburgh Chapter, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters in Management from Carnegie Mellon University. 

Eartha Jean Johnson, JD, SPHR, is president and chief executive officer of LegalWATCH, a risk mitigation training company she formed in 1997 after practicing law for a Fortune 100 company, and working for the United States Department of Justice and an international law firm. She uses the knowledge and expertise she acquired practicing law to help companies avoid mistakes that can often force them into settlements or litigation. Ms. Johnson currently serves on the boards of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and National Institute for the Severely Disabled (NISH).   She just completed an unprecedented eight-year term as chair/vice chair of the Women’s Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association. She also served on the National Women’s Business Council, a bi-partisan Federal government council that advises the President, Congress and the US Small Business Administration on economic issues important to women. 

Patricia Kroken, FACMPE, CRA, is a former radiology practice manager and has worked as a business consultant to radiology practices, billing companies, hospitals and imaging centers for the past 8 years.  She is a regular contributor to the RBMA Bulletin and various national radiology publications--as well as a frequent speaker on radiology management topics.  She is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives and a Certified Radiology Administrator. 

Michael R. Lowe, Esq., is board certified in healthcare law by the Florida Bar.  His practice focuses on all aspects of business, corporate, transactional, litigation, regulatory, operational and administrative matters in the health care law arena. Mr. Lowe’s practice also represents hospital medical staffs, IPAs, ambulatory surgery centers, durable medical equipment providers, diagnostic imaging centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities and other healthcare professionals and providers.  Licensed in both Florida and Georgia, Mr. Lowe is a member of the health law sections of the Florida Bar, Georgia Bar and American Bar Associations.  Additionally, he is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.  H

Daniel J. Marino, MBA, MHA, began his career as Director of Operations for the MercyWorks Occupational Medicine Program, affiliated with Chicago’s Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.  He went on to become a proven leader in the physician practice management arena. Some of his recent accomplishments include the financial and operational turnaround of a 300-physician multi-specialty group practice, facilitation of an information system selection process; improved front-end and back-end operations to support patient flow; and assisting many physician practices and medical groups around the county in realizing substantial financial improvements with efficient billing and collection processes. He has also developed, marketed, and conducted practice management workshops designed to assist physicians, management, and office personnel in improving practice performance. 

Claudia A. Murray has over 30 years experience in healthcare, as a consultant, and with the Medicare program. She started and grew a successful service company, assisted with the development of proprietary software and other products, including the RBMA Compliance Implementation Toolkit™, and the RBMA HIPAA Workbook for Privacy and Security™. Ms. Murray provides on-site reviews, educational seminars and ongoing compliance program auditing reviews for practices and for OIG Corporate Integrity Agreements as an Independent Review Organization (IRO) as well as providing operational assessments, due diligence and accounts receivable financial analyses for physician practices, imaging centers and billing services.

Nicole L. Palmer, CPA, Business Development Specialist, provides Management Services Network, LLC (MSN) with business development support services including the development of new accounts and prospective client leads. Ms. Palmer began her career in public accounting after graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She has spent over 16 years working specifically with radiology practices to increase the effectiveness of their financial management, as well as the management of their billing operations. Ms. Palmer has worked with a large national vendor that provided practice management services to radiology practices, several large regional multi-office, multi-modality radiology practices, and consulting firms that provide financial management services to physician practices. Ms. Palmer is an active member of the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA), and served on the Board of Directors for this organization as the Eastern Director from 2002 to 2004.  Ms. Palmer is also a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Barbara F. Rubel, MBA, currently provides new business development, marketing and client support services for Management Services Network, LLC (MSN), a practice management, billing and accounts receivable management company.  She holds the Master of Business Administration degree in marketing from Mercer University Atlanta, as well as a Master of Education in music from Ohio University.  Prior to joining the MSN team, Ms. Rubel provided healthcare marketing services to sole physician practitioners, physician groups, and specialty physician networks as a contract negotiator, strategic planner, and  marketing consultant. She currently serves the RBMA as President-Elect of its Board of Directors, is a Past President of the Georgia RBMA, and is an active member of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA). 

Joseph A. Seale, CMA, CFE, is director of operations for RMI Physicians Services, Inc, a radiology billing and practice management firm.  He began his career as a cost accountant for a manufacturing firm, and then moved to Duke Energy as a member of the M&A team for the energy commodity trading business lines.  He has spent the last five years at RMI redefining the billing and collection business model to maximize quality and efficiency.  He holds a BBA in accounting; is a Certified Management Accountant; and a Certified Fraud Examiner.

Dorothy D. Steed, CPC-H, CCS-P, RCC, is an independent consultant and educator in Atlanta. She was a Medicare specialist for a large hospital system with 32 years of experience in healthcare. Currently, Ms. Steed is a technical school instructor in Atlanta, performs coding reviews for the QIO in GA, and also performs physician audits and education. Additionally, she has been a technical contributor for several medical publications and has developed a workshop focusing on facility billing, coding and reimbursement. 

Heather Zimmerman, Esq., is a partner with Reed Smith and former associate counsel with the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services where she negotiated Corporate Integrity Agreement with healthcare providers and monitored providers operating under such agreements.  She teams with Thomas W. Greeson, JD, to advise radiology practices and diagnostic imaging providers on a variety of regulatory, corporate and contractual matters.
