At RBMA, we are at the forefront of advocacy efforts on both federal and state levels. Our mission is to influence health policy legislation and regulation to benefit radiologists, radiology practices, and, most importantly, the patients we serve.

  • Influencing Legislation: We actively meet with Congressional representatives to advocate for fair and equitable reimbursement for radiologists, ensuring that their essential work is recognized and compensated appropriately.
  • Grassroots Advocacy: We assist RBMA members in hosting legislators in their districts, providing firsthand insight into the life-saving impact of radiology on patient care.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Working alongside the ACR, AMA, and Mathematica, we encourage participation in the Physician Payment Information Survey, which is crucial for securing fair reimbursement that covers the cost of providing care.
  • Thought Leadership: We contribute to policy discussions by writing responses to significant documents such as the Senate Finance Committee's working paper, ‘Bolstering Chronic Care through Physician Payment: Current Challenges and Policy Options in Medicare Part B.’ Our input supports real physician payment reform.
  • Regulatory Advocacy: RBMA submits multiple comment letters on proposed and final rules each year — with a particular focus on the of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedules — advocating for regulations that reflect the realities of radiology practices.
  • Promoting Innovative Solutions: We have assembled experts within RBMA to develop an alternative payment model specific to radiology, aiming to create sustainable financial structures for the future.
  • Community Support: We promote initiatives like ‘Imaging for A Cause,’ connecting radiologist practices and imaging centers with Federally Qualified Community Health Centers to provide essential imaging services to uninsured patients.

Radiology Advocacy on Capitol Hill

Our dedicated staff and volunteers regularly visit Capitol Hill to engage with Congressional leaders, advocating for policies that support the vital role of radiology in healthcare. Through these high-level meetings, we strive to ensure that radiologists receive fair reimbursement and that their contributions to patient care are recognized and valued.

Championing Radiology

The Radiology Patient Action Network (RPAN) is a network of radiology groups advocating for better patient care and funding for radiology services in Congress and beyond.

  • Championing a Long-Term Solution for Physician Payments with Congress.
  • Voicing concerns of imaging patients and their physicians impacted by repeated annual cuts.
  • Tracking state legislation impacting radiology and advocating for beneficial changes.

Join RPAN annually as a Practice Member by contributing $100 per radiologist (within your practice) to help us keep fighting on your behalf. Make your contribution today! RBMA is a 501(c)(6) organization, and therefore, this contribution is not tax-deductible.
